It is alright to admire and learn from men better than us but never make the mistake of adoring another man as "sifu" or teacher or master, for he is no saint but just a good brother or elder. He is not perfect and there are better ways of showing gratitude than to hero-worship him.
We must free ourselves from confines that hamper and limit spiritual cultivation. Do not confine your learning and cultivation to one man or even to one temple or church.
Let God and his saints be your master and the world or universe be your temple or church. Then you can model after the saints and be seated beside them in Heaven even while still men.
God and saints embody the doctrine of truth. Man on the other hand embodies the imperfection of life. Know men and you will know why men are far from God and fall short of the glory of God. Know the saints and you will know the truth they stand for and how men can be closer to God.
No human master please. We want to be with the saints. This way there will be no risk of cult. We worship not man but God and saints. Let us be seated next to the saints. Let us not prostrate before man like animals in a pack led by the one who is alpha.
Lord Bo Tien reminded us in the early formative years of His Mission. "Man is man and God is God. Know who is man and who is God / saint."
Lord Jesus said, "Give to man what is due to man and to God what is due to God."
