The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord (武天) Bo Tien. The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affliliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven.

No to the animal in men. No pack behaviour please

Learning Point No 145

Don't be opinionated and fight for what you think is right, be it spiritual ideology  or societal views. Men must rise above tribal or animal pack mind set. But however hard we try, often nature seems to have upper hand. Pack mentality will prevail somehow.

A more civil way is to say that men tend to have groupings based on shared agenda. Birds of a feather flock together. Monkeys roam in packs and are territorial.

But as humans, more so if we are followers of a heavenly saint, we must try to be more than man and the last thing we want is to monkey around.

Let us be more focused on being as right as we can be but not opinionated and petty. Many animals, monkeys included, are at times more worthy and exemplary. They may be better than men even with much less blessings, endowment and resources. (There are many narrations in the Jataka stories by Gautama Buddha of animals with the buddha or bodhi-citta heart.)

Lord Bo Tien said that we have to learn from the strengths and shortfalls of our kind and of the other fellow beings, be they animals or otherwise. The gospel is in life around us and life is the living gospel. Life is the Word of God Almighty.

Thus the Buddha Gautama had stressed that phenomna in life is Dhamma (Truth or Teaching) and they enable us to know the true nature of life and existence, of often baneful (destructive) or vile (unpleasant) behaviour of men. Understanding life and phenomena in life, we could realise the need for the animal in man to give way to the saint in man. Be wary of the animal in man --- that is in everyone of us.

The tendency as result of the pack behaviour of men would cause discord amongst religions and sects. This is due to the animalistic trait inherent in being the animal we call man. Men must rise and be counted as amongst the saints and be fit to be seated with the saints. No pack behaviour please. Do try not to back pack behaviour. Otherwise, we will be no different from many wild animals
