Reference: Lord Bo Tien's 1984 Anniversary Message
A temple or church will in time lose its focus but this is of no concern in the long term. Lord Bo Tien reassures that if this should happen in any of his temples that temple will not go astray for long. The explanation is appended below.
The emissary of Lord Bo Tien said in 1984 message, "Though some have understood the doctrine, many still have
not." Though he had descended over the cycle of 13 odd years anniversaries, this
has been the case. He had still to descend that night to deliver and to remind all to ponder
over the doctrine."
"Human beings being humans have their limitations. They need to cling on to the big tree of divinity represented by the host of heavenly saints to prevent them from being blown away by the worldly contingencies of life -- the yin and the yang. Thus many in any temple will be swept away from the spiritual life but any such strong wind (of yin and yang) would stop one day and people will return."

Effectively the message did say that in any temple over time, the temple members may cling on to the tree of divinity, that is the saint of that temple, but over time the affairs of society will blow them away from the tree.
Men may worship the saint of a temple but the affairs of society will blow them away, that is divert their focus. Instead of toeing the spiritual calling by the temple saint, they will be carried away by the agenda of society. But there is no cause for concern for the wind of the affairs of society will not last and in time when societal affairs tire them out, they will return to spiritual mission of the saint.
