Nothing is further from the truth than the religion of today. Yes a religion today is the same religion it was centuries ago during the day of its founder prophet.
But while the teachings are the same, the interpretation and re-positioning have made it different though more relevant to the times and the wishes of the public.
But then again is the wish of the majority the correct approach. Religion often begins because a prophet comes into this world to preach an approach or teaching that is very much different from that of the prevailing majority. Then this will upset them but soon catches on as right and proper.
The cycle then begins once again and over time of centuries, the religion may be the same but has evolved to be different and may even disappoint the founder prophet if the prophet does return to this world.
Singing, clapping and shouting in a temple or church would be unbecoming in the days of the pioneers but are the norms of today in many a religion. Prayers and worship take on ways that would be unthinkable centuries past. That is why there is need to rekindle the original teachings and vigor of the pioneers that are diluted and lost over the centuries.
The polarization of a religion is more now than in the days of the founder prophet. That is why there are numerous sects today in a religion than in the days of the founder and that is why some are even cult orientated. Nothing is further from the truth of a religion than the same religion today compared to centuries past in the days of the founder.
Thus it is poignant to recollect what Lord Bo Tien had to say in this context.

Nothing is further from the truth of a religion than the same religion today compared to centuries past in the days of the founder.
Thus it is poignant to recollect what Lord Bo Tien had to say in this context.
In His inaugural speech, The Inaugural Message Lord Bo Tien said,
"The prophets lay down certain rules and regulations to help the masses lead better lives and to incline them towards GOD. Gradually, these rules become the tenets of an organised religion, but the idealistic spirit and motive, which prevail during the founder's lifetime, disappear gradually after his death. That is why an organisation cannot bring spiritual truth nearer and why religion is a personal concern. Religious organisations become archaeological departments trying to discover the past. Therefore I shall not attempt to establish any new religion, cult or organisation But, I shall rejuvenate the religious thought of all peoples and instill a higher understanding of life into them. Dogmas laid centuries after the founder's death, frequently differ startlingly, but the fundamentals of all religions are really the same, because all originate from the same source - GOD.
Therefore when I appear publicly, I shall run down no existing religion, but I shall not uphold any special one. I want to turn man's mind away from sectarian differences, so that they will agree on essential truths.
Remember though that every prophet considers the times, the circumstances and the prevailing mentality of the people before his public sermons. he therefore preaches doctrines that are best suited to such conditions."
So do reflect and think hard. What do you think and it is alright to think any way you choose. Anyone can think his or her own way and he or she will not be wrong but not completely right as well. Cheers. This is so and so be it.
But Lord Bo Tien wants us to have more insight. Perhaps nothing is further from the truth than the religion of today. Then again this may not be correct as well. Well. you the reader will have to decide and think hard. God bless.
