The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord (武天) Bo Tien. The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affliliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven.

Harvesting Godliness in the city

Learning Point No 312

We sow what we reap and in a crowded city, there are many seeds sown and they grow in crowded space into seedlings competing to reach out skywards for sunshine. This is the nature of life.

Everyone wants his space and his say when they reach out to the sunshine of God. Everyone thinks he can count on others to concur with him on God, that he is more right in views than others with regards to God and how to grow Godliness in life. It is inevitable for a man in a city of men to want to harvest the seedlings of his viewpoints in others.

But we must not go overboard or we cross into the space of others and attract the ire of others. Worse still, we may forget that we must obey the laws of the land as much as the laws of God. Give to God what is due to God and to Man what is due to Man.

Man refers to any man, be that man a monk or spiritual leader. We must harvest the city for those who are Godly and these people need not have the same views on God. We must accept this reality or we will have problems in a city of men.

Even if we could not do so to the maximum, we must at least conform to the laws of the land which do represent the collective views of the people of the the land or city.

Then at least others can accept us even if we differ in approach on harvesting Godliness in the city and the many others too can accept us for being different. Then we can obviously and safely be unique and different from others but we are yet still in harmony with others and acceptable by others.

Why? The reason is simple. We are doing what others expect of us though we are different. We are still conforming to the norms within the laws of the land.

This is in a way the same as the biblical sayings:

"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." (Matthew 7:12)

"Give back to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's." (Mark 12.17)

By doing so ,we do not ruffle others and do not clash with the laws of the land.

Lord Bo Tien

Lord Bo Tien like all saints too reminded that we must obey the laws of the land as much as we obey the laws or teachings of God and saints. This is the correct way of harvesting Godliness in the city.
