The Living Life Series is dedicated to Lord (武天) Bo Tien. The doctrine is in His image. The image is the doctrine. He who sees, understands and effects the doctrine sees and knows Him. He who does not see, know and effect the doctrine sees not and knows not the saint even if the saint or His image is beside him. The far may be near and the near may be far. Let the doctrine and the saint be part of our life. The lord saint in your life can be any heavenly saint of any religion, sect or school. The doctrine of truth is behind all and this is the Inner Truth that leads all (regardless of their religious affliliation or even if none) to inner peace and heaven on earth here and now and not just in the after life. The ideal worship and devotion is to know and effect the doctrine of God and the saints. The best gospel is the gospel of life. We learn from our life and the lives of others. The true temple is the world we live in. The sky is the roof of the temple and religions and sects are the pillars of the temple. All under Heaven are in the temple. The whole wide world and web is the temple and must be regarded as a sacred place --- a temple for living and learning. It is more important that everyone that counts plays a role in this universal temple if due focus is to be given to the Mission of Heaven. Men must not be distracted by the agenda of men and end up serving the mission of man. That would be a far cry from the Mission of Heaven.

Managing life fortunes to ensure more lasting peace

Learning Point No 385

There is the common truth in life that we must have proper financial planning. We should not spend all we earn and commit all our savings for housing. Worse still, we commit our future earnings as well and too much of this is bordering on indiscretion as if in the event we lose our job and income, we cannot bankroll our debts and expenditures.

The same applies to spiritual. We have finite amount of merits from past and present lives. Our continued peace in life and good fortune is very much dependent on this.

We may inadvertently use up our merits or fortune Thus it is prudent that we need to create more by doing good, more so good to the less fortunate and being good to others without doing disservice to self.

But there are those who over use their fortune of merits and leave nothing to cushion, buffer and prevent bad fortune. Worse still, some even go into overdraft and have to face misfortune of disasters in life. They go into bankruptcy and meet bad fate of accidents and serious illness.

Thus it is best that we lead a humble life, that we lead a simple life and not overdraw on our bank of merits so that they act as cushion for us to avert bad fortune and allow us to depend on in order to continue to have reasonable good fortune for the rest of our life.

We need savings and new earnings of merits to bankroll life of peace. But if we over splurge and overindulge, we will deplete our reserves and go into the red. We may then face misfortunes.

Thus we need to be prudent and not overindulge in worldly pleasures and cultivate Tao or Way.

Be humble and modest. Do value what God gives but do not be greedily attach to life.

Denying life like denying what we have is like denying God. Going greedily for all and more is to enslave our spirit to strife and no life.

Lead a simple and peaceful life and be ready for rainy days. The humble and simple will be exalted and  the exalted will be humbled.

Do not go into overdraft and debt. Always have your reserves and buffer. Do manage life fortunes to ensure more lasting peace and a life that is a more uneventful.

We must endeavor to manage life fortunes to ensure more lasting peace. This is more important than living up to the Joneses and suddenly falling down the precipice of misfortune when our fortunes are depleted.

Do not play with life as though life is like the share market, for life is neither a gamble nor a game. Be atop the ups and downs of life like the feet of Lord Bo Tien in his seated image.

Hold on to the inner truth / basic doctrine of God like the right hand of the lord in his image. It is indeed the singular divine fortune we can have. It is and ever will be found in all religions and sects as well as beyond.

Be ever sure and steady in this chosen path of life, neither swaying unnecessarily more to left or to the right as depicted by the left hand in salutation and showing the way ahead.
